The Opening Summer Olympics
There is definitely not a ‘warm and fuzzy’ feeling about the Opening Olympics Chart in Beijing, China this summer (August 8, 2008 at 8:08:08 PM; Asc 6 Pisces 15).
With the 7th house representing China’s relationship with other nations, we see Saturn and Venus straddling the Descendant bringing in that inhibited love feeling. And in the sign of Virgo no less, emotions are cooled way, way down. We get a serious, conservative sense of ambition as if everything needs to be just right. Talk about controls! Doesn’t make you want to kick back and take off your shoes, if you know what I mean.
Just for starters, the Sun Leo-Moon Scorpio Blend sets up a power struggle: “I am right and you better recognize that!” The same message comes across with AP Pluto=Sun/Moon: out-and-out power scuffles, and who is going to control who. Makes you wonder what’s being hidden or who or what may try to overthrow their authority. Repeating this sense of concealment is the ruler of China’s identity Neptune tucked away in the 12th house. The masses, representative of the Moon, retreating back into the 8th house. The Moon rules the 5th house of entertainment, the games, perhaps as well symbolic of the athletes. Hmmm, I wonder what’s up there.
Mars quindecile the Ascendant can suggest aggression, anger or resentment or China’s ability to get what it wants. But Mars in the 7th house of other nations and opposed by Uranus sitting in the 1st of China’s identity, well let’s just say we get a midpoint configuration of Uranus=Mars=Pluto/MC: the drive for power and domination, nervousness and explosively argumentative. Again, I’m not getting a really cozy feeling here.
But on the up side AP Pluto=Jupiter/MC: great gains, achievement, and recognition. But then again, AP Pluto=Moon/Node: powerful forces affect relationships; the sense of fated attraction. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see!
